Each member brings their own strengths to the group, drawing from their varied personal tastes thus creating a fiercely original yet familiar sound of intense energy. Think Duran Duran meets Interpol with a one night stand with Franz Ferdinand. Since February 2010 Futures Apart has shared the stage with Hurts, The Magic Numbers, The View, The Coronas, Fionn Regan and Duke Special. Futures Apart are working in the studio under the ears and guidance of Neosupervital man Tim O Donavan. Playing in venues across Dublin City and the country they have developed a unique style and approach to music. The songs bear the influence of country, folk and rock but with a very contemporary edge. “In both full electric mode or in various acoustic combinations and using the cherrytree venue as a base, The band have won many fans with a sound that combines roots, folk and soul with an earnest and honest delivery” Paul Lee – Musiclee Their live performances have gained them a large fan base, drawn to their compelling, exciting and honest delivery of material. The Quicksand Band have had the pleasure of being guests to Declan O’Rourke, Freddie White, Prison Love, Luan Parle John Spillane and Eric Taylor amongst others. The eagerly anticipated Debut EP “Ten Gallon Drought” was launched in 2008 and has been well received by fans and critics. Currently the Band are in studio working on new material. America beckoned for the schizo-rock four-piece, and a slot on the 2005 Vans Warped Tour alongside the likes of My Chemical Romance, Fall Out Boy and The Dillinger Escape Plan strengthened their conviction. Subsequent support slots with Anthrax, Head Automatica, Biffy Clyro and Kerbdog showed them they were well able to take on the best in the business, and so begun a three-year American odyssey that has to date taken in 42 states, 200000 miles and more than 500 shows. Relentless touring, record sales topping 11000 units, hundreds of thousands of MySpace plays and a top 10 slot on the Warped Tour’s official download chart have predictably helped the band turn the heads of record labels. Now based full-time in the USA, they are signed to Los Angeles management company Associated Talent Management, who also boast the likes of The Dead Kennedys on their roster. In early 2010, the band released a download-only, live acoustic album of new material, re-worked rarities and live favourites, while their version of ‘Dry Riser’ was featured on the Kerbdog tribute album ‘Pledge: A Tribute to Kerbdog’.
